HLA Coeliac Direct

The LAMP Human HLA Coeliac Direct KIT is an in vitro diagnostic test intended for the qualitative detection of DQA1*05, DQB1*02 and DQB1*0302 alleles by Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) on EDTA whole blood and extracted DNA. This assay is dedicated to professional use in diagnostic laboratories. The device is not for self-testing.

Celiac Disease (CD) is an autoimmune disease characterized by an inflammation of the small intestine due to ingestion of gluten.

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotyping can be an aid in diagnosis based on the exceptionally strong association of CD with specific HLA genotypes: HLA-DQ2.5 haplotype (alleles DQA1*05 and DQB1*02), HLA-DQ2.2 (alleles DQA1*0201 and DQB1*02), HLA-DQ8 (alleles A1*0301 and DQB1*0302) and/or HLA-DQ7 (DQA1*05).

Moreover, testing for these haplotypes has a high negative predicting value as most people negative for these alleles do not develop CD.
