The LAMP Human HLA-B27 Direct KIT is an in vitro diagnostic test intended for the qualitative detection of a tag SNP (rs4349859) for HLAB27 alleles by Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) on EDTA whole blood and extracted DNA. This assay is dedicated to professional use in diagnostic laboratories. The device is not for self-testing.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a common, highly heritable inflammatory arthritis affecting primarily the spine and pelvis and affects approximatively 0.5% of the population.  

Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecule B27 (HLA-B27) is strongly associated to AS: more than 90 % of AS patients are HLA-B27 positive.
